How to Lend Your Home A Rustic Decor Theme

Rustic decor is a look that many people aspire to or choose as a theme when decorating or redecorating part of their home. They choose the style because it is homely, simple and can lead to a warm and welcoming space.
The first thing to examine when looking to decorate in a rustic style is what the term ‘rustic decor’ means to you. For many people it conjures up visions of log cabins, country farmhouses and Shaker style kitchens. However, most of us now do not have exposed wooden beams in our houses, and so we must tailor our rustic decor to suit the architectural style of our surroundings.
True rustic decor comes in various different themes and time periods. You could, for example, choose a colonial or country theme, or pick a romantic Victorian theme.
Colonial and country rustic decor is based on a very utilitarian style. Items are practical and useful, and decoration and themes are simple and clean. A country or colonial themed room can be dressed with items such as handmade quilts and tablecloths, earthenware pottery, and ‘folk art’ style paintings. For the more extreme decorator, you could choose a conversation piece such as a stuffed moose head or pair or antlers!
Victorian style rustic decor is more romantic and not quite so utilitarian. Try dressing your room with wicker baskets, and look for flounced or ruffled curtains, tablecloths and bedding. Think beautifully embroidered white bedding on a dark framed wooden bed, or delicate flower sprigged curtains in a kitchen.
The advantage of rustic decor as a theme for your interior design project is that you can do as much or as little as you like. The whole room or house can be rustic themed, or you can simply use a few carefully selected accent pieces to bring a rustic feel to a neutrally decorated room.
You can even use functional rustic pieces to recreate the lifestyle of the period - many old fashioned pastimes are getting a new lease of life and can be integrated into your theme. For example, why not purchase an old fashioned table based sewing machine, or even a spinning wheel? Or for a less extreme solution, how about a wicker basket in your room to keep your knitting wool and knitting needles in?
One of the keys to a rustic theme is to include plenty of natural materials. These can be functional (wooden blinds, wicker baskets) or decorative (a dried flower centrepiece, or a spray of twigs in a vase). The natural materials can be used to achieve the impression of ‘bringing the outside inside,’ which is used to great effect by many of the decorators and room designers on television design programmes.
The key to rustic d©cor is to do what works for you. Don’t shy away from including something in your theme because you don’t feel it counts as traditional rustic; just integrate it into your overall design. There are no hard and fast rules for a rustic theme, so get designing and enjoy it!

Choosing Your Digital Camera

When choosing a digital camera, you need to decide what type of photographs you want to take with it. This article will assist in choosing a camera to meet your quality requirements.
Cameras are generally rated by “Pixels”, this term describes the tiniest dot on a monitor that a video card can set to an individual colour. Monitors when set to high resolutions, have small pixels which are more detailed. At lower resolutions they appear larger and more visible. This give the display the appearance of lacking in detail.
For a good quality appearance when printed a photo needs to be 300 DPI (Dots per Inch). You can work out the number of mega pixels you need in a camera for the appropriate size of photograph.
For example supposing we wanted to print a photo that is 4″ x 6″ the calculation is as follows:
4 inches multiplied by 300 DPI = 1200 pixels
6 Inches multiplied by 300 DPI = 1800 pixels
1200 x 1800 = 216000 which is 2.1 mega pixels.
You can now work out the best sized photographs you can take from the camera you are interested in.
A key factor in choosing a camera is the amount you can afford to spend. So set a budget first, and then see how powerful a camera you can get for the money.
Make sure you read the specifications and preferably handle the camera before you buy it. This way you can be sure that you are comfortable with the size and weight.
How many photos can you store in the camera at one time? You can store more at a lower quality, it is best to use the quoted total number for photos of highest quality as a guide. This total is before photos are copied to your PC. When downloaded onto a PC you can take the same number of photos all over again. If you are running out of space whilst out using the camera, you can always review the photos on the screen on the back of the camera and delete some to make more room. Most modern cameras will also allow you to swap the cameras memory card.
Can you plug the camera into your PC and use it as a web cam for video conferencing? This might not seem essential, but if there’s any possibility that it may be used as a web cam in the future, make sure that the camera has this function.
Make sure it has a built in flash unit. Without it, you will be unable to photograph in low light conditions, or you will have to artificially lighten every photo once copied to your PC.
You should choose a camera with a built in LCD screen and an optical viewfinder. The built in screen is at the back of the camera and allows you to immediately view the photo that you have just taken.
Preferably choose a camera that takes batteries that are easy to source, such as AA size. Rechargeable batteries can be expensive when they do need replacing. A couple of quick tips, first always carry spare batteries and second, use the optical viewfinder where possible as using the LCD screen as a viewfinder soon runs down your batteries.
Believe it or not, digital cameras don’t necessarily come with a case. Obviously handy for carrying the camera around and keeping it protected from the elements, especially rain! So you may need to budget additionally for a case if one is not supplied.
Don’t misunderstand the term “Digital Zoom”. This simply means that you can closely examine a photo that you have already taken. It is nothing to do with zooming in to an object some distance away before you take the photograph. For that you need to look at the “Optical zoom”, this being the real zoom value of the camera lens.
Finally, see how it connects to your PC. Most cameras come with a lead that has a USB plug for your PC. This may not be a standard USB lead, and the plug into the camera might have a unique fitting. Find out if the camera will be recognised by the PC as a mass storage device. This is preferable, because you can immediately connect it to most computers, without the need for custom software from the camera manufacturer.
Make sure your version of windows is supported whatever connection the camera takes to the PC.

What if we all stepped back and laughed at ourselves and each other and determined all this sound and fury does no one any good, but rather is creating animosity and spite which has lasted thru some 60 generations?
It seems as we saw the riots in the Muslim nations over the Danish University Newspaper cartoon of the Great Allaah with a turbine on his head made to look like a bomb signifying the most radical Islamic clerics who use their religion to recruit suicide bombers; we are learning a lesson indeed. The lesson is this; when someone wants to cause a conflict over something they will always find a way. They will always find a way to play victim or use the conflict label another or a group or even a nation.
We know in watching human groupings and chimpanzee troops or even High School Football team cross town rivals that to build a team, you must first pick an enemy. Well not always, but we know that such a method is perhaps the easiest way. Rather than uniting ourselves against another, why not unite all in a common cause of cartooning.
So that we may look at ourselves and our neighbors and just laugh at the whole thing; after all we are a bunch of silly humans and get all worked up nothing at times. Come on humor me, this was not such a bad article? Consider this in 2006.

Not Just Hearing The Word
In many chapters in the Bible it speaks of not just hearing the word, but also following it. In Matthew 7:21 it says: Not everyone who says to me, Lord, Lord, will enter the kingdom of heaven, but only he who does the will of my Father who is in heaven. We must live by the Will of the Father and as Jesus did. In James 1:22 it clearly states the fact about just hearing the word. It says; Do not merely listen to the word, and so deceive yourselves. Do what it says. Anyone who listens to the word but does not do what it says is like a man who looks at his face in a mirror and after looking at himself, goes away and immediately forgets what he look like.
Now who wants to forget what he looks like? That’s something to think about.
It also says in Matthew 12:48 it says; He replied to him, Who is my mother, and who are my brothers? Pointing to his disciples, he said, “here are my mother and my brothers. For whoever does the will of my Father in heaven is my brother and sister and mother.” We are one Family in Jesus Christ. Furthermore Jesus asks the question in Luke 6:46 saying; Why do you call me, Lord, Lord, and do not do what I say? We all need to ask ourselves that question. If you look at John 14:21 it says; Whoever has my commands and obeys them, he is the one who loves me. “He who loves me will be loved by my Father,” and I too will love him and show myself to him. What a wonderful statement. Now look at 1John 5:3 it says; This is love for God: to obey his commands. And his commands are not burdensome, for everyone born of God overcomes the world. This is the victory that has overcome the world, even our faith. Who is it that overcomes the world? Only he who believes that Jesus is the Son of God.
Jesus is so powerful, he gave us so many wonderful works. Look at 1John 2:5 it says; But if anyone obeys his word, God’s love is truly made in him: Whoever claims to live in him must walk as Jesus did. Jesus even gave us the ability to learn his word on our on. Look at 1John 2:20 it says; But you have an anointing from the Holy One, and all of you know the truth. Now look at verse 2:27 it says; As for you, the anointing you received from him remains in you, and you do not need anyone to teach you. Bus as his anointing teaches you about all things and as that anointing is real, not counterfeit—just as it has taught you, remain in him. To sum it up I think it is best written in Romans 12:1 it says; Therefore I urge you, brothers, in view of God’s mercy, to offer your bodies as living sacrifices, Holy and pleasing to God—this is your spiritual act of worship. Do not conform any longer to the pattern of this world, but be transformed by the renewing of your mind. Then you will be able to test and approve what God’s will is— his good, pleasing and perfect will. Jesus is truly merciful and deserves all the praise and glory. Enjoy more reading at:
